Staff and Jobs at Cutter
Cutter is an unusual company. From the beginning we've been a virtual business, looking to make use of modern networks in place of roads, buildings and real estate. We think it's better to work from home and communicate than clog up the roads and commute. Our staff work from anywhere that suits them, usually home, but anywhere comfortable and convenient with a good network connection.
In the UK or overseas, at home or travelling, we keep in contact with one another using shared applications, voice and message chat or phone. It helps to keep our costs down and our staff happier. Our experience has been that far from missing the ambience of a typical office, our staff communicate more with each other than they might have done otherwise and since we can't entirely eliminate travel yet, meetings at customer sites or social occasions provide chances to get to know each other.
This may not be for everyone but so far it has proved popular and it's not something we plan to change.
Cutter tries hard to be a fair, reasonable and ethical employer. We assume that if we treat people well, they will do the same in return and this seems to work well in practice. We invest in training where appropriate and since we aren't HR experts ourselves, we liase with specialist advisers to ensure that we keep up with good practice and legal requirements in our relationships with employees. An employee share option scheme has recently been introduced.
We try to maintain an ethos of hard work, intelligence and attention to detail. So far we haven't recruited from the open market place but instead have found each other through personal recommendation and contacts.
At present we have no vacancies for new staff members but this page will be updated if the situation changes. We are not currently soliciting CVs and, sorry, contacts from agencies are seen as a nuisance not a blessing.
